Anaylsis Of Similar Texts

Watching this teaser trailer which lasts for 1 minute:08 seconds. This is a typical length of a teaser trailer.
The trailer immediately starts with non diegetic sound, setting the mood for the trailer to begin, once the trailer has shown an image the non diegetic sound changes to fading sounds which are in time to the change of image. There are also flashing words which has non diegetic sound put to it, which enhances what the words are saying. As you are drawn to the words  they are in highlighted yellow shining through the screen. I find this is a unconventional use of flashing words in this particular genre, as you would normally see big black/white bold letters on screen giving a sense of, straight to the point, serious wording.
As the words aren't put in a full sentence on screen you are guessing whats going to be said next.             "THE   FILM    THEY    DIDN'T   WANT   YOU   TO   SEE....."
The sentence once finished makes the viewer feel curious about what the film is actually about and the viewer becomes an interigater asking questions about the film that they want answered.
There are a lot of things going on in this trailer as the words are flashing over the images showing clips of what happens in the film.

GOOD THINGS;
viewer asking questions
flashing images
mixed up clips, guessing/ trying to put things together
BAD THINGS
to many things going on in trailer, cant see whats happening to much to take in
sound isn't that effective, as a viewer
flashing words, good idea. not in the way they used it, bright colors, not usual convention - that's what they could of been going for - unconventional way.

Update

I still need to record vital clips to put the film trailer together, so over the weekend and next week I will be recording and editing the film trailer to a quality standard. My research into similar films have shown me that the trailers are similar in the way they only show interesting shots that holds the audience and makes them intrigued to know whats gone on and whats happening to the protagonist and whats going to happen to the antagonist.

I also need to take pictures of main images to put into the ancillary task of making the poster and magazine cover.

Ancillary task

Looking back and seeing what was chosen to do for the ancillary task I have decided to change one of the selected options.
I shall continue to create a poster which will be an advertisement for the film trailer. The other option that I have changed from making a webpage to making a magazine cover featuring the film.

I think with the change made, I would be able to create a better and successful advertising poster and magazine front cover.

Title

Having a title name and font that is suitable for our film trailer is difficult. I have done some research on other films with the same genre as I have chosen, it seems to be that each film title have very different fonts to show what type of film it goes with.

This font seems to have the affect that the word has been scratched onto a wall as  it isn't text written, adding to this affect is the colour of the text which is the bright light shining though it and having a glow around the word, drawing you in. The feeling that the word and the font and the meaning gives off is a distorted feeling, being anxious to know what the film is about.
From my own experience having watched the film I feel that the title is suitable for the film as the atmosphere of the film is such like the title it's self, uncertain, having a scene of knowing.

The font for this title compared to "Captivity" is very different. Even though the genre is the same the text is written in a block font which doesn't give the audience a sense of mystery as is shoved in their face and they are told what it is about and there's nothing more to it. As the title is more than simple adding to creative side is the colour the font is written in,  as red is naturally associated with danger and mystery I think this is were the title has more added to it so it seems interesting to watch.

This font is written in a thin block font but it seems to be shown as if it a serious title as it is slim as not in your face. The colour of the font is grey which adds to the reclusive side hinting to what the film is about. It is also a different shade of drowny grey to the background which is also a big hint to what the film is about as it shows that is being reserved, with drawn instead of eye capturing.
From own experiences watching this film the title is the most accurate, appropriate choice as the meaning of the title is well fitted and the colour choice and font go well with the elusion of the genre.
Thinking about the title I have thought about names that would be appropriate for the Thriller teaser trailer and what sort of font would be best suited.
Ideas that I have come up so far for a name is 'BOUND'. Looking the definition up I found that it has the same meaning as restain, enslaved ect. I haven't yet decided on a title name but finding one that is in the same genre as the above and are along the same lines as the title names above.

Here is a link showing what type of font writing that I  would find suitable to use as a title for the film trailer.
The first one I would choose.

To Do List

Sunday 16th January- complete filming with new actor and changed location.
Monday 17th -Friday 21st January - Edit filming on due date of deadline.

Editing our Film trailer on the Final Cut to have a successful realistic trailer. I haven't used Final Cut before so I need to get used to the different techniques in the way we can transform our editing.

Changes

Due to the location of the pub being hard to find and having co-oprative pub in what were requiring, it was taking to much time in searching for this particular pub.
However we have come to other arrangements and have decided to think about another location in which is eaiser for filming and for helpers to get to the set location.
We have not changed the storyline but added a twist to in the guessing of who the mysterious kidnapper is as the location is being held in a house drinking with 'friends'.
